Nick Forsberg’s passion for architecture, design and building was ignited by his various travels throughout the world, in which he visited some of the most extraordinary places with stunning architecture—Dubai, Cape Town, Africa, Thailand, Bali, Tulum, Australia, Italy and Sweden. Today, he, along with Kenny Debaene, are the owners of Atlas Building Group in Coeur d’Alene.
“The catalyst for Atlas Building Group happened during my corporate life when I was asked by a dear friend here in Coeur d’Alene to build a house for them,” Nick reflects. “Because I was often up in the air traveling for my corporate role, I reached out to Kenny to help manage the on-site construction of that first house. We both enjoyed the process and decided to move forward building more homes for the community.”
In 2016, the pair founded Atlas Building Group. Built on a foundation of trusted friendship, Kenny and Nick each bring their unique set of skills to the company. Kenny has been in the construction industry for more than 30 years and owned a concrete company for 20 years, while Nick's experience started when working for a local land developer back in 2006, after which he worked in change management as the vice president of performance strategy, and then as the national vice president of sales traveling around the country for two different publicly traded building material companies.
While they purchase and/or develop land for themselves, they specialize in expertly crafted modern custom homes. Their team of local experts design and build modern dream homes with quality materials, transparent pricing, and a streamlined process. Atlas Building Group provides in-house drafting design and full construction management to build custom homes from inception to completion. With the capability to design a home and build it with the same team, they can provide quicker responses to the field, providing for more innovation and collaboration.
When it comes to what Nick finds most fulfilling about this path he has chosen, he says, “Creation. Being able to visualize an idea within the mind, plus have the ability to bring it to life, is the most rewarding. Some of the homes we have built become pieces of art for the client and the community.”
Since 2019, Atlas Building Group has been featured in The Parade of Homes, presented by North Idaho Building Contractors Association, which showcases the work of North Idaho’s leading builders and top designers. They have won awards in the highest category every year since they began entering their homes in the show—from Best Innovation, Best Interior and Best Kitchen to Best Exterior Design & Appeal and Unique Characteristics. "While we appreciate winning awards and showing our work to the local community, it is the relationships built with our clients that matter the most," Nick affirms.
Both Nick and Kenny have called Coeur d’Alene home for more than three decades, and giving back to their community is important to both. Nick is proud to serve as vice president on the Board of Directors for CASA, a local nonprofit focused on advocating for vulnerable children in our area.
